Southern Sales & Patio hires domestic sales manager

Will head new program for company

-- Casual Living, 9/6/2007 12:54:00 PM

Dexter Shorter has been appointed domestic sales manager at Southern Sales & Patio Group, and will head the new Hearth & Patio Domestic Program for the company.

“Hearth & Patio was designed with the independent retailer in mind,” said Joe Fraser, president of Southern Sales & Marketing Group.  “We’re the industry leader in selling large quantities of product to the major retailers, but we just didn’t have anything we could offer to the small gift shops, garden centers or nursery accounts. Our Innovation Lab design department and our sales group got together and created this program especially for the smaller accounts. It is a totally different product line than we sell to the big accounts, so there is no direct competition, and we will stock this program domestically in our Orangeburg, S.C., warehouse. With a $500 minimum order, any retailer can afford to add some of our items to their retail mix.”

Shorter comes to Southern Patio after 17 years as a sales manager with an Atlanta-based Ace Hardware affiliate. While with Ace, Shorter also gained extensive knowledge on the planter and nursery business and brings that experience to his new position.
