Capel Rugs opens new San Francisco showroom

Showroom moves to city's design district

-- Casual Living, 1/21/2009 7:06:00 AM

Capel Rugs celebrated the grand opening of its new San Francisco showroom. After more than 55 years in the San Francisco Mart building, Capel's Bay Area showroom has moved to the Design Pavilion at 200 Kansas Street located in the city's prestigious design district.

With more than 5,000 square feet of floor space and state-of-the-art floor-to-ceiling racks, the new showroom will showcase more than 1,000 selected rugs from Capel's extensive program.

"Moving the showroom to the design district is a great opportunity for Capel to more effectively serve current designers and to introduce the Capel brand to many individuals who shop exclusively in that area," said Capel's San Francisco Showroom Manager Fran Wilson. "Clients who have faithfully used the Market Street showroom over the years are very excited about the move -- it's truly a win-win situation."

Grand opening celebrations were held Jan. 21 and included light refreshments and a drawing for a free 5' x 8' Mumtaz rug, one of the most popular Capel collections.

The new showroom also includes a variety of display improvements. The addition of an 8' x 10' rack will provide the opportunity to showcase more one-of-a-kind hand knots in a variety of styles and sizes. Two back-to-back freestanding racks will showcase Capel Braids - American Originals line and the popular Capel Anywhere collection for outdoors and in.

Rugs from Capel licensees Biltmore for Your Home, Country Living and Williamsburg will receive special emphasis as designers become more familiar with these favored collections. Bob Timberlake, Capel's most popular licensee in the Bay area, is a favorite with designers whose clients have homes in Lake Tahoe, Montana and Idaho. Bob Timberlake's designs will receive special prominence in the new showroom space.
