Skyline Design partnership results in premium outdoor cushion

Aim to set new industry standard

Skyline Design North America, a luxury outdoor furniture designer and manufacturer, in partnership with Over and Under, aims to set a new industry standard with the introduction of the High Performance Outdoor Cushion™ that incorporates innovative design technologies built for extreme weather conditions.

The cushion combines the latest high tech/high quality materials with innovative construction techniques that are the key to the performance results. The cushion includes Sunbrella Next Generation Fabric, which is new for 2009, with increased water repellency and an extended 5-year warranty, Dri-Fast/EZ Dri flow thru foams, a zippered Sta-Dry inner liner, Gore Tenara lifetime sewing thread, surged interior fabric edges and a fold over zipper. Optional welting is available and will always be cut on the bias, improving the look and extending the life of the cushion. 

“Introducing the High Performance Outdoor Cushion was only a natural for Skyline as an addition of our current factory cushion offering,” said Judy Calzadilla, vice president of Skyline Design. “Our customers’ clients are investing more in their home and they want more comfort and less maintenance and do not want to compromise design.”

Over and Under President Joe Cooper spearheaded the development of the High Performance Outdoor Cushion. In business for more than 25 years in South Florida, Over and Under manufactures custom outdoor furniture and marine cushions, throw pillows, umbrellas, furniture covers and replacement slings.

“This is a very exciting time for us,” Cooper said. “Even with the economic downturn, there is an increasing demand for cushions that perform well in the variety of extreme outdoor living environments that we experience in the United States. From the freezing and thawing winter snows of the North to the heavy rains and scorching  sun of the deep South, the High Performance Outdoor Cushion will resist water penetration and dry as quickly as today’s technologies will allow, even after heavy exposure to the elements.”

All collections including the new High Performance Outdoor Cushion will be available for preview as Skyline Design will exhibit at worldwide trade shows including Salone Internacional de Mobile Milano, Hospitality Design Expo in Las Vegas, NeoCon, Maison Objet in Paris, the Casual Market in Chicago and Hospitality Design Boutique in Miami.
