Tropitone Furniture Company, Inc. announced the endorsement of its innovative URComfort self-adjusting seating by the American Chiropractic Association. This is a first for outdoor casual seating and one of very few for seating in general.
"We are extremely pleased that the ACA has endorsed Tropitone URComfort seating," said Frank Verna, director of consumer sales and business development. "The ACA endorsement process is very rigorous. They want to ensure that any product that carries their endorsement label satisfies the high expectations of the buying public. Their reputation is at stake."
Based in Arlington, Va., ACA is the largest professional association in the USA representing chiropractic doctors. Its mission is to preserve, protect, improve and promote chiropractic professionals for the benefit of the patients they serve. They provide leadership in health care and a positive vision for chiropractic's natural approach to health and wellness.
A full line of URComfort cushion and sling seating was introduced in 2011. A patent for the revolutionary URComfort seat adjustment system has been published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is pending final approval.
The URComfort seat adjustment system utilizes multiple pivot points to allow articulated movement of both back and seat. This concept is starting to emerge in such advanced products as aviation seats.
"We have uniquely applied the multi-pivot-point idea to the outdoor environment," said Richard Rivera, Tropitone's VP of engineering. "One of our critical engineering design objectives was to make the articulated movement system simple and durable."
URComfort can be adapted to any body size and weight with a simple adjustment of a single knob on each side of the seat. The multi-pivot-point seat adjustment system allows the user to find the most comfortable position without getting out of the chair. The few moving parts are elegantly simple and easy to maintain.
"One of the unique characteristics of the URComfort system is that it naturally finds your center of gravity and distributes your weight comfortably," Verna said. "People with or without back pain can easily find a comfortable position. Also, URComfort seating is offered in a range of firmness from softer cushions to intermediate padded slings or firm slings and duplex slings. We have teamed with the ACA in an effort to better communicate these critical benefits."
The Tropitone brand was originally established as a commercial brand in 1954 when car travel was starting to boom in the USA. As travelers became familiar with Tropitone brand products at hotels and motels, they began asking where they could buy such comfortable, stylish and high quality products for their homes. Tropitone decided to fill that demand by offering products for sale at retail. Tropitone changed the standards for an entire industry by applying the rigorous product and service requirements of the highly-demanding commercial market to the residential market. The company now has broad and deep portfolios of products specifically designed for each of the commercial and residential market segments, all with the same standards of excellence.
Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Tropitone is recognized throughout the casual furniture marketplace for its product design leadership and commitment to service and value. The company was named 2011 Manufacturer of the Year by the International Casual Furnishings Association. Its commercial products are sold to multiple customer segments including hospitality, multi-housing, clubs and cruise ships. Consumer products are marketed through specialty retailers and designers. Products are marketed under the Tropitone, Basta Sole and Tropitone MODA trademarks. Tropitone operates primary manufacturing facilities in Irvine and in Sarasota, Fla.
