Acacia takes WINOS outdoors

Line extension to debut at Casual Market

Acacia Home & Garden will add eco-friendly outdoor furnishings to its licensed WINOS Collection, inspired by author Bonnie Jesseph’s humorous Women In Need of Sanity cookbooks.

Acacia’s decision follows a successful launch of the WINOS Collection in April at the High Point Market. That debut focused on casual dining, reflecting the trend of more people young and old entertaining at home in the kitchen. Serving centers have mobility to offer flexibility and woven baskets are synonymous with Acacia’s roots in casual furniture so it will be a natural transition from casual dining indoor to casual dining for outdoor.

“We are excited and very pleased that we are able to provide not only exciting product but marketing concepts that help the dealers reach their audience,” said Alex Te, president of Acacia Home & Garden.

The WINOS furniture collection also reflects color trends. Women who are hungry for a bright feeling want to surround themselves in color. In addition to the original seven bright colorful finishes, there will be three additions inspired by nature along with many of the same design elements visible in the new outdoor collection.

The outdoor collection will include a sofa, Morris style club chair, ottoman, conversation cocktail table, dining, barstools and bar, offering functional use in a casual yet stylish way. Also look for the practical wine glass and bottle storage, perfect for the wine enthusiast. In addition, a potting bench will be available in two pieces that stand alone.

WINOS is all about cooking, eating, laughing, enjoying wine, friends, family and most of all having fun, Jesseph said. “Our goal is to offer furniture in the same recipe that has worked for our success in cookbooks, apparel and accessories,” she said. It is product with a sense of humor, casual style and fun.

Success of her cookbooks led to the WINOS Buddies Club designed for fun-loving women (and men) who enjoy food, wine (or other libations), laughter and getting together. With the rising cost of restaurant prices and today’s economy, many women are replacing “girls' night out” with a more cost effective but equally entertaining “girls’ night in.” These popular gatherings offer women a much needed respite from their busy lives and multi-tasking schedules to laugh and connect with one another. It also provides the perfect vehicle for retail events. Retailers at the High Point Market embraced the concept of hosting WINOS Buddies Club events in their stores for entertainment and reaching their target audience.

Jesseph lives in Blowing Rock, N.C. and spends her time in research and development of new recipes and cocktails. “It’s kind of like chemistry but a whole lot more fun,” she said. Her style is synonymous with casual living. Because of her company’s standards and sense of purpose, she seeks and sources products from manufacturers that share a commitment to socially and environmentally responsible business practices. In addition, she said, future books will be associated with a different charity. For more information, visit www.winoshavefun.com or www.winosbuddies.com
