Ultrafabrics earns Greenguard certification

Casual Living Staff -- Casual Living, 6/25/2010 10:28:00 AM

Ultrafabrics announced all of its products have been Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certified, as of June 8.

Ultrafabrics, a leading global producer of polyurethane products for upholstery, wall covering and various proprietary applications for the automotive, aviation, marine, RV, contract, healthcare, hospitality and residential markets, has offered environmentally conscious products concerned with the long-term impact on present and future lifestyles for more than 20 years.

As harmony with human and environmental interaction is the nature of Ultrafabrics' brand, the breathable, PVC-free and low VOC emission performance attributes of Ultrafabrics products ensure a sustainable presence within our inner and outer environment. ISO 9001 Certified, Ultrafabrics also utilizes efficient manufacturing processes that are based on conservation of raw materials, toxic-free solutions, and minimal dependency on natural resources. Ultrafabrics can also help clients achieve LEED® (Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design) points in the area of Existing Buildings. Credits for the product line fall under the MR Credit 4.0 Sustainable Cleaning Products and Materials.*

"Achieving the Greenguard certification demonstrates Ultrafabrics commitment to environmental excellence, healthy lifestyles and sustainable living", said Danielle Boecker, President of Ultrafabrics. "The Greenguard certification will now allow architects, designer and consumers to quickly identify such Ultrafabrics products as Brisa, Ultraleather and Promesa as a healthier choice for indoor environments. And having a third party product certification based upon the environmental performance of all UF products was very important to us."

Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certified is a product certification program for low-emitting interior building materials, furnishings and finish systems. All Greenguard certified products have been tested for their chemical emissions performance and can be found in the Greenguard Product Guide at www.greenguard.org.

"We are excited to welcome Ultrafabrics to the Greenguard certification Program," said Henning Bloech, GEI's executive director. "The level of interest in healthier, environmentally responsible products has never been greater than it is today. With so many products claiming to be ‘green,' the Greenguard Certification Program represents an objective evaluation of one aspect of being an increasingly sustainable product. Because Ultrafabrics' products are suitable for use in not only buildings but also in automobiles, boats and recreational vehicles, they can contribute to healthier indoor environments in all the places where people spend their time and we feel this is an important contribution."
