HIGH POINT, NC — Turning House Furniture will showcase a new home accents line at the fall High Point Market.
Products are American-made of vintage wood, metal and materials reclaimed from old warehouses, factories and buildings.
"The addition of Turning House accents broadens our appeal into more retail segments, such as the lifestyle specialty stores and mass merchants," said Spencer W. Morten III, chairman and CEO of Turning House.
The line is the product of a partnership between Turning House and Vintage Building Products. The companies have collaborated on advances in eco-engineering that produce higher yields - and less waste - from reclaimed American timber. A new facility in Lebanon, Va., will allow the two companies to reduce their carbon footprint through lower transportation costs and more efficient manufacturing systems.
The new home accents line includes:
* Wrought iron sconces combined with oak from Amish barns
* Scatter tables cut from salvaged telegraph poles
* Mirrors framed in walnut, oak, pine, maple and cherry
Turning House uses reclaimed American timbers and metals smartly recycled from structures that otherwise would have been torn down. To make the saved wood go farther, two new eco-engineered processes will be used to fashion some of the accents and furniture to be introduced in October.
Ecøblock uses off-fall - would-be scraps of vintage wood - to make a finger-joined core to which a vintage wood face can be laminated. Ecøply employs cross-lamination of single vintage species for added strength. Use of these processes means Turning House can offer more product at attractive price points during economically challenging times.
"In short, the introduction of a full line of home accents offers the company more ways to use more of the wood," Morten said. "That's good business, and with a lower carbon footprint, that's good for everybody."
We would love your feedback!
