Designers offer tips for creating outdoor rooms

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A Webinar to help outdoor furniture retailers discover new ideas for expanding sales will be held at 2 p.m. EST on Wednesday, Oct. 6.

"Expanding the Market Mix: The Outdoor Kitchen and Other Outdoor Rooms" will feature Barbara Templeman and Cheryl Alters Jamison. The 90-minute Webinar is sponsored by the International Casual Furnishings Association.

Templeman operated her own interior design firm in Minneapolis for eight years before relocating in 1993 to Santa Fe, N.M. Meanwhile, Jamison was making a name for herself as a food and travel author, educator and exterior design entrepreneur. In 2008, she launched an exterior design business, drawing on her experience in outdoor cooking and creating outdoor living spaces. Now she collaborates on design projects with Templeman through a joint venture called insideOUTsantafe.

Their Webinar will offer ideas for add-on sales at a variety of price points, including locally made artisan products, cooking and gardening tools, how-to books and even furnishings and cooking accessories for children. They also will explain how to maximize opportunities to work with interior/exterior designers, landscape architects, builders and contractors.
