Piedmont Triad Partnership launches online resource for furnishings industry

Casual Living Staff -- Casual Living, 11/2/2010 10:17:45 AM

The Piedmont Triad Partnership has launched a new Web site at www.furnishingtheworld.com to provide information to companies interested in relocating, expanding or setting up furnishings-related businesses in the 12-county Piedmont Triad Region.

Part of the group's new Global Exchange for Furnishings initiative, the site is designed to inform businesses about the region and its unparalleled assets for furnishings companies. It includes detailed information about the Piedmont Triad's creative capital, educational resources, logistics strengths, professional services and trade associations, as well as the High Point Market.

"This new site is a source for any furnishings-related company looking to learn more about all of the benefits the Piedmont Triad region has to offer," said David M. Powell, CEO of the Piedmont Triad Partnership. "The site demonstrates why the Piedmont Triad is the world's hub for furnishings design, sourcing and distribution. It shares perspectives from other leading companies in the industry about how being located in the Piedmont Triad contributes to the success of their businesses."

On the site, visitors can learn about the favorable business conditions in the Piedmont Triad region and the many competitive advantages the region holds for companies that operate here. Included are fact sheets such as "Top 10 Reasons Why the Piedmont Triad is a Leader in Furniture Logistics and Distribution, which explains how the region's strategic location enables companies to ship their products to market quickly and inexpensively.

A special tool on the site, PiedmontTriadProspector, allows users to search a list of available commercial buildings and sites and generate site-specific demographic and business analysis reports.

Users can:
* View listings of domestic and international furnishings firms that have a presence in the region.

* Easily link to other Web sites with International Trade resources, such as the N.C. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Commerce and the World Trade Center of North Carolina.

* Get the latest news about the region and the Piedmont Triad Partnership's new furnishings initiative, as well as updates from Furniture/Today newspaper and Contract magazine.

Furnishingtheworld.com will continually evolve with new content and features relevant to the furnishings industry and the Piedmont Triad region.

"This site is a vital resource for furnishings companies that are considering new locations for their businesses," Powell said. "It is among the many useful tools we'll be offering as part of our new Global Exchange for Furnishings initiative."

Launched at the October High Point Market, this initiative is designed to enable industry members operating in the Piedmont Triad region - or considering moving to the area - to more easily tap the Piedmont Triad Partnership's rich base of resources, relationships and expertise in the furnishings arena.
