Specialty Store Operations Survey for 2016

Price point up 70% from 2014

CL Specialty Store OperationsBest-selling price points are up in all casual furniture product categories this year, compared with two years ago. The median best-selling price point for stand-alone fire pits in 2016 is $1,699, a 70% increase from 2014 when the bestselling price point was $999. That's according to this year’s exclusive Casual Living Specialty Store Operations Survey.

With chat groups, best-selling prices for a five-piece set rose 60% to a median of $3,999, and a seven-piece chat group was up 25% to $4,999. With dining sets, a five-piece wood set realized a 50% increase to a median of $2,999, and a five piece aluminum set increased 47% to a best-selling median of $2,499.

Methodology - Casual Living’s exclusive 2016 Store Operations Survey is based on responses of retailers across the United States. Thirty-nine percent of respondents are casual furniture specialty stores, 18% are hearth and patio specialists, 11% are garden centers, 11% are full-line furniture stores, and 7% each account for pool and patio stores, hardware/home stores and interior design and contract sales.

Fifteen percent of responding retailers had 2015 sales of less than $1 million, 35% had sales between $1 million and $2.9 million, and 50% had sales of $3 million or more.

The 2016 survey represents figures for 2015. Numbers from the 2014 Casual Living Store Operations Survey, printed June 2014, represent figures from 2012.
