Record opening day for Dallas Market Center's first event of the year

Surge in attendance signals retail optimism

What: The opening day of the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market set records as the best first day in more than 10 years. On the heels of stronger holiday sales, retail buyers are optimistically drawn to Dallas to prepare for a successful 2011.

Dallas Market Center hosts wholesale buyers during its Total Home & Gift Market, which runs through Tuesday, Jan. 25. The market welcomes more than 50,000 attendees representing retail stores and manufacturers from around the world searching for gifts, home décor, Christmas 2011 products, lighting and more.

Highlights:
- Attendance up double digits
- Dozens of new showrooms and hundreds of new products attract buyers from all 50 states and 30 countries
- Increased attendance and strong order-writing signal a boost to key consumer segments
- Major local economic impact as buyers spend numerous days in Dallas

When: Wed., Jan. 19 through Tues., Jan. 25
Showrooms open 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m., except Friday, 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m.
Open to the media and trade only.

Where: Dallas Market Center, Stemmons Freeway (I-35) at Market Center Blvd.
