Five new collections of Sunbrella fabrics were introduced during December's Showtime Fabric Fair in High Point, N.C., expanding on the brand's reputation for color and design expertise.
From classic blue and white combinations to fashion-forward pinks, the new fabrics provide a breadth of choice for Sunbrella customers seeking innovative fabric solutions for their furniture and home accessories.
"As a company, we have always challenged ourselves to be ahead of the curve in terms of product development, and the same goes for our design capabilities," said Gina Wicker, design and creative director for Glen Raven. "The colors and designs unveiled during Showtime are ideal for those customers who want a fresh start in their fabric offerings as well as those who want to spice up their existing collections."
Green Tea is a collection of six versatile and playful fabrics set in vibrant shades of green. Lantern Wasabi is a wide-set pinstripe in an unexpected green and white combination. Fife Vellum, an existing fabric, provides a solid ground in off-white. Meridian Mustard brings a unique contrast to the group in a warm yellow/gold tone. Neo Wasabi has an Asian influence with interlocking rattan rendered in yellow-cast green and white. Flow Chive is a textured stripe in various shades of green. Aura Chive is an energetic pattern of leaf and fan designs with an ikat influence in green and white.
The Quarry Collection has an alluring gray and blue theme, producing a cool effect in an otherwise colorful lineup of fabric introductions.
"The Quarry Collection brings to mind Asian-style fabrics that are rich in texture yet subtle and sophisticated in color," Wicker said.
Lantern Slate is a wide-scale pinstripe in alternating shades of gray-blue. Velvet Taupe, an existing fabric, has a gray-brown cast, offering a chic contrast to the blues in the collection. Zelli Parchment is an elegant textured dot in pearl tones, while Fife Silver offers a cool solid alternative as a plain weave. Neo Silk is a rattan pattern set in cool silvery blue and white. Asuka Silk brings an Asian flair with long flowering branches in silver and gold set on a white background.
Playing on the traditional blue and white combination, the Hamptons Collection makes the color contrast fresh again with modern designs and bold hues. Lantern Shadow's wide-set pinstripe takes on a preppy look with a dark blue stripe set against a linen ground. Holt Classic is an intricate blue dot design with a white ground. Neo Indigo features a striking interlocking rattan pattern in white set against dark blue. Zelli Indigo highlights small, textured dots in white on a dark blue base. Meridian Wren is a lush base cloth in a soothing linen color with slight blue undertones. Bari Indigo has an ethnic indigo influence with a traditional floral and vine pattern made modern with a strié effect.
"Blue and white palettes can seem dated, but the pattern selections and rich blue in Hamptons give it an of-the-minute appeal," Wicker said. "When combined with a neutral such as a linen base, blue and white are elevated from everyday colors to trend-worth tones suitable for any room in the house."
The Clementine Collection casts a warm glow, with fabrics in shades of orange, green and other terrain colors that bring a sense of autumn. Prado Poncho is an alternating stripe pattern in earthy tones of taupe, orange and neutrals. Velvet Pumpkin, an existing fabric, offers texture as well as warmth in a luscious orange. Tab Tangerine features a small square dot pattern in orange and rust. Fife Linden contrasts with the oranges in the collection with a solid ground of earthy green, while Java Clementine is a small textured stripe in orange and white with just a hint of green. Tamara Tangerine, a traditional floral, scroll and leaf jacquard, is set in an unexpected colorway of orange, rust and brown.
The new Sedona Collection brings new life to the color pink by combining various shades of it with earth tones for a modern, organic effect. Prado Mesa is an alternating stripe with surface interest set in green, brown and pink. Wabi Fiesta is a subtle stria stripe that works as a texture. Velvet Nutmeg grounds the group with its warm, brown velvety texture. Meridian Maize provides a solid base cloth in pale pink. Fife Berry is a fashion-forward solid in hot pink. El Greco Berry is a unique take on a Greek key pattern, rendered with a neutral base and patterned in shades of pink.
"Pink is no longer just a color for little girls' bedrooms," Wicker said. "When used as an accent or grounded by warm or cool neutrals, it becomes livable for virtually any room in the house. When toned down to its Berry persona as in El Greco, it makes a real fashion statement."
