Burkhart
THIS ISSUE is slightly larger and printed on an improved paper stock than Casual Living has used in its first 50 years.
Other recent changes include the addition of Jesse Burkhart as an assistant editor and Stephanie Richardson as grill columnist.
A recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Journalism, Burkhart has written, edited and published weekly columns for NBC Sports' fantasy sports brand, Rotoworld. For the past year, he worked as an associate scout for the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners baseball clubs. Burkhart was an editorial intern for Baseball America Magazine in 2008-09.
Richardson begins a three-part Grill Mythbusters series in this issue. She has been promoting the grill industry for more than 20 years. She publishes an online newsletter at www.TheBarbeQuer.com.
Richardson's prior experience includes serving as vice president at DHM Group, Inc., a New Jersey-based boutique agency specializing in barbecue and outdoor living. Clients included The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association, Masterbuilt, Big Green Egg, GasWatch and DiversiTech Grill Pads. She supervised programs for clients including the Barbecue Industry Association (prior to its merger with Hearth & Patio), ATD Corp. (Thermsulate for grills), Sunbeam, Ducane Gas Grills, Fiesta Grills, Fits-All grill accessories and Benson Barbecues, in addition to Hershey Pasta Group, Chiquita Brands, Inc., and Pickle Packers International, a trade organization.
Richardson has served as a radio and television spokesperson for both the barbecue and pickle industries. Prior to her stint in public relations, she was a staff writer for the Food & Lifestyle section of a daily newspaper, where her stories about food, design concepts and special events resulted in numerous awards for her department.
