Ernest Siesel of Casual Cushion was recently honored as an ambassador for economic development by the S.C. Department of Commerce and legislative leaders as part of South Carolina's 20th annual Industry Appreciation Week.
Casual Cushion Corp., founded by Ernest and Pierette Siesel in 1979, manufactures patio cushions, pillows and umbrellas for outdoor furniture. The business, which began in Hollywood, Fla., moved to Rock Hill in 2006.
Since the company's move into a 60,000-sq.-ft., state-of-the-art building in a Class A industrial park, Casual Cushion's work force has increased by 50% and its business has maintained steady growth, according to Jason Siesel, vice president.
Casual Cushion received the South Carolina Economic Ambassador Award for York County from Governor Nikki Haley and Speaker of the South Carolina House Bobby Harrell. One award was presented to a business from each of the South Carolina counties to recognize their contributions to the community in terms of jobs and economic impact.
