Poly-Wood to open showroom at Chicago's Merchandise Mart

Permanent space to showcase variety of product offerings

Casual Living Staff -- Casual Living, 4/28/2011 1:09:50 PM

Poly-Wood, a manufacturer of outdoor furniture made from recycled raw materials, has announced plans to open a permanent showroom at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago on June 12.

The 3,480-sq.-ft. showroom will be located on the 17th floor of the Merchandise Mart in suites 1760 and 1761. Buyers for retail stores, interior designers and architects will be able to browse 128 seating and dining options representing 14 different collections marketed under both the Poly-Wood and Trex brand names.

"The Poly-Wood product line has grown significantly, and we believe this is an ideal time both to reveal the depth of our product selection within the outdoor furniture category and to expand our presence to potential new retailers," said Chad Yordy, director of sales and marketing for Poly-Wood. "The Merchandise Mart is a prime location to exhibit our wide range of beautiful and high-performance furnishings and to meet one-on-one with professional partners."

Poly-Wood products are manufactured using a blend of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) raw materials that contain a high level of recycled content - including post-consumer materials, such as milk jugs and laundry detergent bottles. Poly-Wood furnishings feature realistic finishes in a range of colors that allow homeowners to create customized outdoor living spaces.

The Merchandise Mart is the world's largest commercial building, wholesale design center and one of Chicago's premier international business locations. Encompassing 4.2 million gross square feet, the Mart spans two city blocks and rises 25 stories, four of which are devoted to residential and casual furnishings. The International Casual Furniture & Accessories Market, a four-day trade show showcasing the newest and most innovative casual and outdoor living products from leading manufacturers, is held at the Merchandise Mart each year.
