HGTV designer to discuss brand management.

The HGTV designer will discuss brand management.Candice Olson will be the guest speaker at WithIt's breakfast event during High Point Market.
HIGH POINT — WithIt, a women’s leadership development network for the home furnishings industry, will host A Conversation with Candice Olson during High Point Market, April 22-26.

WithIt representatives said that Olson, known for her HGTV design shows including Divine Design, Candice Tells All and Design Star, will discuss the business of “great design” and how to create, manage and evolve a brand during the breakfast event.

“WithIt has a long history of breakfast speakers who truly educate,” said moderator Lorri Kelley, WithIt’s VP of Education and the president of BDI Furniture. “Candice will continue that tradition by sharing the business sense that is behind her brand and her success. I can’t wait to sit down with her and have a chat about her process of both design and business management.”

As part of the discussion, Olson will share how she has grown her design brand from her “one to watch” (NY Times) interior design firm to demonstrating her skills on camera to developing licensed products. According to Olson, creating a successful design brand is a skill that must be studied and practiced, and she will answer the “nuts-and-bolts” questions of vision and execution, give practical insights on the business aspects and provide an opportunity for designers, retailers, manufacturers and professionals in the industry to ask her their own questions.

WithIt, the women’s leadership development network in the home industries, offers the Education Breakfast to both members and High Point Market attendees on Sunday, April 23 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., in the IHFC 11th floor International Ballroom. Cost is $25 and includes a full breakfast, program and networking. For more information, go to http://www.withit.org/

chodnett@furnituretoday.com

As the Upholstery/Style Editor for Furniture/Today, I spend my work hours studying the sloping curves of sofa frames, the intricacies of fabric and the nail head trim and button accents that function as jewelry on a piece of upholstery. I research the companies that bring these things together for retailers, and ultimately consumers, and interview industry leaders about their business strategies and where they think furniture is heading in the future. And when traveling, I provide a sneak peek at what I'm seeing, whether at international markets or in High Point or Las Vegas.

I look forward to sharing what I see and I hope you'll feel free to do the same. Email me at chodnett@furnituretoday.com or follow me on Twitter @CynthiaWHodnett.
