Royal Botania debuts outdoor luxury products

Casual Living Staff -- Casual Living, 7/5/2011 12:02:59 PM

The International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) returned to New York's Jacob Javits Center this past May 14-17 and brought out the best of the international furniture design community. As Belgian design makes a name for itself in the modern marketplace, the Royal Botania brand of luxury outdoor furniture returned to the show for a third time.

The Antwerp-based manufacturer prides itself on design, quality, comfort, ergonomics and material innovation. From deep-seated sectional couches to expandable dining tables, it has become known around the world for offering technically refined and diverse garden furniture collections. Through a partnership with its NY showroom, D'Apostrophe, the 2011 Royal Botania booth featured a selection of new products that represent the brand's core qualities.

In addition, the brand teamed up with its local showroom to present "Design CAN Fight Hunger," an outdoor installation and food drive in the heart of the Meatpacking District, which generated more than 200 pounds of food for City Harvest.

Fold, Royal BotaniaFold+ Fold: Marrying contemporary materials and 1960s inspiration, Fold is designed to resist the elements with its poly-acrylic shell and electro-polished, stainless-steel base. The series also offers a complete range of deluxe, all-weather cushions. From corner and middle pieces to a lounger, the modular collection features a number of different customizable combinations. Tables and footrests are available in dark woodprint from TRESPA or white acrylic.

+ QT: The modern QT collection is part of Royal Botania's Red Label Collection, which features slim, refined shapes and uses less material. The QT55 is available in Royal Botania's signature color orange and is complemented by the QT195, a sleek lounger available in either a one- or two-piece configuration.

+ O-ZON90 High Boy: The O-ZON90 High Boy offers a durability and contemporary aesthetic with its electro-polished, stainless-steel construction and colored glass top.

In addition, Royal Botania is releasing a number of new pieces this summer that push technical, ergonomic and aesthetic boundaries in a diverse product offering. First unveiled during the Milan Furniture Fair, the 2011/2012 collection features loungers, dining tables, side tables, foldable director's chairs and stackable dining chairs for the outdoors. The new products include:

SURF, Royal BotaniaSURF+ SURF: By consumer demand, Royal Botania created SURF, a little brother for 2010's popular WAVE hammock. Measuring 8 ft. in height and 11 ft. in length, SURF's free-swinging bed can easily accommodate two adults. It creates its own shade with a dramatic full canopy composed of fabric that blocks 86% of the sun's rays while remaining semi-transparent. Its solid body is made of electro-polished stainless steel. SURF can be permanently installed into the ground or fitted with an optional, sturdy base for placement on a terrace. It also has a wheel set that can be placed on the base to allow for mobility.

+ D-Lux 130: The D-Lux 130 table features the same signature, elaborate lines that define the rest of the D-Lux line. Made of multiple bold curves cut from a single plate of sturdy aluminum, D- Lux was both inspired by and designed for the human body.

+ Little-L (Red Label): Constructed of elegantly tapered aluminum, Little-L's inspiration and namesake are one and the same: the perpendicular angle and unbalanced lines that create the upper case "L" shape. This motif is artfully repeated with attention to detail to form the collection's minimalist aesthetic. All of Little-L's tables are constructed from durable, lightweight aluminum and either modern, resilient glass or responsibly harvested mature teak wood. Royal Botania's durable Batyline fabric puts the finishing touch on the collection's loungers and seating, ensuring ergonomic comfort and support.

+ XQI (Red Label): From the French "exquis" meaning "delicious," this collection merges traditional materials and craftsmanship with contemporary design elements. XQI's solid teak seating combines straight lines, subtle curves and tapering edges to create a unique, modern appearance. XQI also features stackable dining chairs with arms, as well as four all-teak tables ranging from 32 in. to 8 ft. in length.

+ Taboela (Red Label): The Taboela table does more with less, exuding elegant minimalism while offering options in its construction. Its glass tabletop is ideal for modern spaces, and it is also available in teak to offer an updated traditional look. With its durable stainless-steel frame, Taboela is built to resist the elements year-round. All four sizes - from 20 in. to 8 ft. - are available in three shades of glass in addition to mature teak wood.
