Richard Frinier design for Brown Jordan wins Industrial Designers' award

Cloud Nine group earns IDEA product design honors

LOS ANGELES — The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) announced the winners and finalists of its annual IDEA product design awards. Among the winners was veteran industry designer and IDSA member, Richard Frinier, for his Cloud Nine creation from the 2011 Richard Frinier Collection for Brown Jordan.

Cloud Nine"The IDEA program is considered by many as the 'Oscars' of design competitions because the judging process is rigorous and judged by the experts in their field," IDSA CEO Clive Roux said in making the announcement.

Frinier has been designing for the home furnishings industry for more than 30 years with the majority of his design contributions focused on highly stylized exterior furnishings, textiles, lighting and accessories so well executed by his manufacturing partners that the designs are equally specified and enjoyed for interior placements for residential, contract and hospitality environments.

Over the past 30 years, Frinier has garnered more than 70 product design and career achievement awards, including a Stars of Design Award from the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Casual Furnishings Association.

StillIn 2011, his newest designs for client Brown Jordan have also garnered awards, including an IDSA IDEA bronze award for Cloud Nine, International Interior Design Association and Hospitality Design (IIDA/HD) design excellence awards for both Cloud Nine and Still, and the American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) just announced his Cloud Nine creation with Brown Jordan as a finalist in the upcoming ASFD Pinnacle Design Competition with winners to be announced at the 2011 Fall High Point Market.
