BlueStar teams with chef to benefit breast cancer research

Renowned Chef Marcus Samuelsson's talents to sweeten eBay auction

Casual Living Staff -- Casual Living, 8/5/2011 10:52:32 AM

Chef Marcus Samuelsson has partnered with BlueStar in auctioning a custom-made pink gas range to benefit the Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure via its Susan G. Komen Greater NYC Race for the Cure charity event.

BlueStar pink stove Chef Marcus SamuelssonThe winning bidder also will receive a VIP Dinner for six at New York's hottest restaurant, Red Rooster Harlem. Samuelsson will personally cook a four-course meal for the winner and their guests. (Dates and times to be mutually agreed upon.)

A chef and cookbook author, Samuelsson was the youngest chef to ever receive two three-star ratings from The New York Times while at Aquavit as executive chef. In 2010, he was the winner of Top Chef Masters Season 2 and also served as the guest chef for the first State Dinner of the Obama administration. Red Rooster Harlem reflects the roots of  Harlem's diverse population as well as Samuelsson's own rich background, while celebrating local farmers and artisanal purveyors. Red Rooster Harlem features a lively bar and dining room, and is designed to be a place where people from near and far come to celebrate food, music, history, culture and art.

The BlueStar professional Residential Nova Burner 30" stove has a retail price of about $4,700. The auction ends on Aug. 30, and 100% of the proceeds will be contributed to the charity. BlueStar will provide free shipping. If pink is not your color, you can bid on the range and select any one of BlueStar's 190 colors, at no extra charge, and still support the cause. And, when you're ready to cook at home, you can do so on your new BlueStar 8-piece cookware set, valued at $595.
