North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper to visit High Point Market

Special events, showroom unveiling slated for trip

Roy CooperHIGH POINT, N.C. - North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper will visit High Point Market on Fri., April 21 for a two-part tour beginning at 3 p.m.

The tour of the market will begin at the grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration of the newly built Christopher Guy showroom, located at 129 S. Hamilton St. The event will begin at 3 p.m. and will include remarks from the governor and a tour of the 20,000-square-foot building. The governor will be joined by High Point Counselor Jay Wagner, Bob Maricich, CEO of International Market Centers and Christopher Guy Harrison, founder of Christopher Guy.

The Christopher Guy showroom will also host a Habitat for Humanity event on Saturday, April 22, from 4-6 p.m. There, the designer will recognize the organization and donate a signature piece to the local Habitat for Humanity project, which Progressive Business Media employees helped to erect.

During the second part of the tour, Gov. Cooper will go to the Universal Furniture showroom, located at 101 S. Hamilton St., for a showroom tour and informal press meeting, at which time the governor will accept questions from the media. He will be joined by Jeff Scheffer, president of Universal Furniture and chairman of the board of directors of the High Point Market Authority.

New outdoor furniture from the Paula Deen outdoor collection by Sunvilla for Universal will debut this market. The Bungalow collection includes a wide range of pieces, such as Deen's signature rocking chair.
