HIGH POINT — Interior designer, author and makeover TV personality Libby Langdon will return to her native High Point this month for a special design event benefiting the American Society of Furniture Designers’ scholarship fund.

ASFD will present “Evening with Libby Langdon” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 17 at the String & Splinter Club here.

John Conrad, executive director of ASFD, said Langdon will offer insights into her company — New York City-based interior design firm Libby Interiors Inc. — her design process and experiences working with manufacturers on her licensed collections, as well as how she partners with companies in the branding and promotion of her products.

Langdon has launched several collections of licensed products for companies such as Braxton Culler, Crystorama, Bradburn Gallery and, most recently, NorthCape.

“I’m really looking forward to coming back to High Point for this special evening,” Langdon said in a release. “My dad was in textiles, and my mom was in design, so the home furnishings industry has been in my blood from the beginning. I’m thrilled to be a part of the furniture business, and I look forward to sharing my experiences from my start in interior design, my move into product design and what I want to make happen next.”

Conrad, who said ASFD expects tickets to the event to sell out, added that Langdon has been “an ardent supporter of good design and design education, and this event promises to be a very entertaining presentation, appropriately set to coincide with Celebrate the Old North State week.”

The cost per ticket is $25 per person and includes wine, beer and hors d'oeuvres.
