Readers of the Los Angeles Times' Home & Garden blogs selected Trapa by the Haskell Collection as their top choice for the California Look 2011 contest, which picks winners in various categories of home decor that suit the forward-thinking, earth-loving, indoor-outdoor lifestyle of the Golden State.
Designed by Andrew Stoneman and Laura Haskell, Trapa is made from recycled aluminum and was featured on L.A. at Home earlier this month. The geometric pots come in two sizes and can be paired with 12- or 24-in.-tall steel stands.
Relax from Greenform was another nominee in the planter category. This human-shaped container, from a Swiss firm that makes some of its fiber-cement pieces in Southern California, is about 6 feet long and weighs 36 pounds. The planter is 5 inches deep, suitable for grass, flowers, herbs and low-water succulents.
A third planter nominee was the Pod version 1.0 by Pad Outdoor. Pod premiered in 2009 and has been popping up in store windows, living rooms and backyard patios ever since. It comes in a variety of shapes and colors with a choice of stands.
