Retail Makeover University online classes start Oct. 4

Fall courses are designed to boost 4th Quarter sales

Going back to the basics is the motto for this fall's offerings at Retail Makeover University, conducted online by retail business coach Barbara Crowhurst. As director of Retail Makeover University programming, Crowhurst will deliver all classes live, starting Tuesday, Oct. 4.

1) Effective Marketing (RMU-1):
When: Oct. 4, 7-8 p.m. EST
Cost: $49

At the core of this basic strategy is bringing new customers into the store and increasing the number of times existing customers come through the doorway. Key points include:

+ Defining your marketplace
+ What is your potential customer base
+ Knowing who your competition is
+ Using technology effectively, is the new social media for you?
+ Your website
+ Your customer data base
+ Today's traditional advertising costs and are they effective
+ Using a POS system
+ Creating a promotional calendar, how to use it and best practices

2) Creating a Strong in-Store Sales Focus (RMU-2):
When: Oct. 11, 7-8 p.m. EST
Cost: $49

At the core of this strategy, Crowhurst covers your role in the sales performance of your sales staff, increasing the average sale, what an add-on sale program is, why it is important to you, and how it effects your yearly sales targets.

3) Updated Store Design and Product Placement (RMU-3):
When: Oct. 18, 7-8:30pm EST
Cost: $98

At the core of this basics strategy, Crowhurst covers what makes good retail store design and why placing products in her retail grid system keep customers in your store longer and buying more. This is two classes in one.

4) Hiring and Keeping Well-Trained Employees (RMU-4):
When: Oct. 25 7-8 p.m. EST
Cost: $49

At the core of this basic strategy, Crowhurst covers: hiring the right attributes, why job descriptions are important, how to keep great staff, what type of staff training is essential and managing your staff for best results.

5) Christmas Displays 101 (RMU-5):
When: Nov. 1, 7-8:30 p.m. EST
Cost: $49

Crowhurst will supply the tools you need to be better at window and feature displays. The focus during this seminar is to help sell more products during the critical Christmas selling season through effective displays. One lucky retailer will be picked and have their displays and store used as a teaching tool.
