Belgard Hardscapes, a leading provider of interlocking pavers, will donate its Eco Dublin interlocking permeable pavers, solar paver lights and Castleguard edge restraints to The Green Schoolhouse Series.
Belgard Hardscapes leaders say they are proud to be a building partner in this meaningful initiative in which schoolhouses are gifted to disadvantaged public schools. Belgard Hardscapes will provide its products for a LEED platinum-designed green schoolhouse slated for construction in Phoenix, Ariz., later this year. The inaugural multipurpose, safari-themed schoolhouse, which will be built at Roadrunner Elementary School, will replace uninspired, outdated portable classrooms.
The project at Roadrunner is the first that The Green Schoolhouse Series will build along with school districts, corporations and volunteers across America.
"The Green Schoolhouses will be built using donated top-of-the-line and sustainable products like Belgard Hardscapes permeable pavers," said Marshall G. Zotara, Co-founder of The Green Schoolhouse Series. "Not only will the students benefit from learning in a healthier classroom setting, the donations will sustain the building for many years to come."
Belgard's environmental permeable pavers enhance their surroundings, providing aesthetic beauty and durability, while also contributing to LEED certification and storm water management solutions. Belgard permeable pavers:
+ Reduce pollution from rain water runoff;
+ Reduce runoff from common rainstorms by as much as 100%;
+ Have a 50-year lifecycle for surface;
+ Out-perform similar systems in harsh climates or freeze/thaw cycles;
+ Replace detention/retention ponds.
As part of a bio-aquifer storm water system, Belgard Environmental permeable pavers can virtually eliminate runoff, essentially removing the need for retention ponds or underground sewer pipes.
