Brown Jordan to debut Michael Berman design at High Point

Papillon marks first collaboration with American Modernism designer and expansion of Brown Jordan's partnership initiative

Brown Jordan announces the High Point Market debut of its Papillon collection by Michael Berman, whose work embodies the American Modernism style. Exclusive to the trade in 2012, the compelling woven collection marks the luxury outdoor furnishings manufacturer's first collaboration with the renowned designer, who has completed interior projects from New York to Los Angeles for an enviable client list made up of the business and entertainment worlds' elite.

The venture also represents the second season of design partnerships for Brown Jordan and the significant expansion of a growing initiative.

"The collaboration with Michael Berman is a milestone for Brown Jordan," said Stephen Elton, Brown Jordan VP of marketing and sales. "Having Michael on board, not to mention his contribution to a group as important to our portfolio, and to the trade, as woven, is an exciting progression of our partnership initiative."

Papillon is a fluid, contemporary take on woven seating, chaises and tables. Curvilinear, textural and cocoon-like in shape, with subtle wing details, Papillon's simplicity offers deep, comfortable seating with a soft silhouette. In muted, earthy tones, the designs are meant to blend organically with any exterior or interior style. In envisioning the collection, Berman was inspired by the free spirit and individuality of the papillon (butterfly) - its beauty, grace, life of transformation and quiet harmony with nature.

Papillon joins seven other collections being released in trade and retail channels for the coming season. Berman is among the talented designers to collaborate with Brown Jordan since the initiative began in 2010. The mix of trade-only and specialized retail offerings, targeted to design trade and high-end retail distribution, accommodates the demand for exclusive product on the part of interior designers, architects and corporate buyers of luxury furnishings.

In addition to its design collaborations, Brown Jordan‘s focuses for both retail and trade in the last year encompass two new showrooms, strategic retail and supplier partnerships, and an enhanced digital footprint.
The Brown Jordan showroom in High Point is in the International Home Furnishings Center, Main Building, Suite 111.
