We all know business is the main draw at Casual Market Chicago, but amid all that buying, there are plenty of chances to learn and have a little fun during the show. Here’s the rundown of special events held during market, Sept. 12-15:

Elaine Smith celebrates 20 years in the business with a complimentary hot breakfast at Marshall's Landing restaurant, located at the top of the Grand Staircase on the 2nd floor. Attendees also can enjoy mimosas, new pillow debuts and a video showcasing the 2018 collection.

Casual Living editor in chief Waynette Goodson will reveal the top trends projected for 2018, as well as her picks for what trends have now become basic—meaning they’re here to stay and should no longer be considered “trendy.” In her perch at the intersection of manufacturers, designers and retailers, Goodson has a bird’s eye view of the entire casual industry. Based on this singular position and Casual Living’s noted research, she will offer up tips to specialty retailers on how to keep a competitive edge and increase business.

ICFA Awards Gala

The ICFA Awards Gala celebrates the casual industry’s great achievements. During the event, the association will recognize the 2017 Lifetime Achievement honorees, Apollo Award winners, Lillian B. Winchester “Best of Show” recipient, Manufacturer of the Year and the Sales Representative of the Year. The annual Fabric Fashion Show—presented by Casual Living, the ICFA and The Mart—also will be held during the event, with Casual Living Editor-in-Chief Waynette Goodson as emcee.
