Globe Express Services adds four international offices

Casual Living Staff -- Casual Living, 12/23/2011 2:44:00 PM

Globe Express Services, a logistics provider with expertise in home furnishings, has opened four new locations around the world.

The locations are in Moscow, Beijing and Nanjing, China, and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The new offices bring the company's number of locations to 49, just one short of its goal of 50 by the end of 2011.

The company said adding an office in Russia was particularly important due to the growth opportunities there.

"GES Moscow will provide a full range of logistic services in Russia for import and export clients, including local deliveries by rail and trucks, warehousing, customs clearance, ocean and air freight deliveries worldwide," said David Pupco, GES vice president for the Canadian market, who played an important role in the Russia office opening. "Moving forward, Moscow will serve as our head office for Russia as we extend our operations across the entire country."

The new Beijing and Nanjing offices bring the company's China locations to 12.

"As the importance of China continues to increase in the company's global strategy, we have added a presence in Beijing to strengthen our network in northern China, and in Nanjing to further develop our coverage in Jiangsu province," said Georges Mejaes, GES president of the Asian Pacific and Indian regions. "Beijing will serve as one of our three international air hub stations in China, along with Shanghai and Guangzhou. Nanjing is the second largest city in the Yangtze River Delta region, and an important national base of scientific and technological innovation."

The Abu Dhabi location is GES' third in the UAE. It is expected to serve the Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone, which the company said is expected to handle up to 47.4 million tons of cargo and become the largest logistics facility in the Gulf region.

"As the capital city of one of the Arab World's most dynamic economies, Abu Dhabi offers significant logistics potential in light of the UAE's world-class infrastructure and its growing role as a global trade hub," said Mustapha Kawam, GES managing director of the Gulf region. "Abu Dhabi represents an important platform for achieving our growth goals for the Middle East."
