Casual showrooms in Chicago to host Spring Fling

Trade-only event to jumpstart outdoor season

The Design Center at the Chicago Merchandise Mart announced it will host Spring Fling, a trade-only event featuring presentations by industry experts and casual showroom open houses, to be held Wednesday, March 14 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

John Gidding, host of the HGTV series Designed to Sell and Curb Appeal: The Block, will present "The Role of Outdoor Furnishings & Accessories and Curb Appeal." This presentation will feature expert tips on how to add curb appeal to the front of the home while creating an outdoor oasis in the backyard. He will also discuss how to use outdoor accessories to enhance outdoor spaces.

Gina Wicker, design and creative director for Sunbrella, will present "Designing for Life(style)." She will discuss the best performance fabrics for outdoor and indoor use, as well as make recommendations on what types of products work best for your lifestyle.

The Design Center at The Merchandise Mart is home to more than 45 outdoor/casual showrooms that specialize in high-end, outdoor furnishings. Participating showrooms will host open houses throughout the day.

Spring Fling schedule:

10 a.m. | Featured presentation by John Gidding at the Nancy DeBiasi Library (15th floor)
11 a.m. - 2 p.m. | Showroom open houses on floors 15-17
2 p.m. | Featured presentation by Gina Wicker at the Nancy DeBiasi Library (15th floor)
