High Point Market wins praise for its use of Pinterest

Casual Living Staff -- Casual Living, 2/15/2012 11:21:44 AM

The High Point Market has received praise for its use of Pinterest, a new social media site that lets consumers gather information and share opinions on products and brands, according to market organizers.

Social media experts cited the market's Style Spotters program. Launched in October, it featured market attendees who are followers of fashion and design trends highlighting their favorite products and trends showcased by exhibitors at market.

The Style Spotters program was lauded for creative use of Pinterest by social media and branding experts including Hubspot, Social Media Today, Likeable Media, eModeration and Frontline, according to market officials. It was named alongside brands such as "The Today Show," Whole Foods, Pillsbury and Random House.

"At the High Point Market we have a clear strategy for social media," said Cheminne Taylor-Smith, vice president of marketing for the High Point Market Authority, in a statement. "We use it to increase brand awareness, to build a community within the home furnishings world, to provide customer service and respond to feedback, and to quickly circulate information about the market."

The market will continue the Style Spotters program in April with a new group of spotters. Information about the program is available at www.highpointmarket.org/stylespotters.
