HIGH POINT, N.C. — Joe Ruggiero, one of America's favorite globe-trotting home decor designers, found inspiration closer to home for his new Sunbrella fabrics, set to debut in the Miles Talbott Showroom at the High Point Market, April 21-26.
"These new fabrics capture the spirit of some of my favorite metropolitan areas in the U.S.," Ruggiero said. "America has so many inspiring locales that we have reflected in the designs, colors and naming for our spring market collection."
Four new fabric groups will be launched in the Miles Talbott showroom during April Market - Brentwood, Sutton Place, Harbor Springs and Pacific Heights. Ruggiero's color story for spring market emphasizes a soft touch of spa blues and cool grays, along with one of the most American of all colors - Denim.
"Joe's fabrics this market combine an American spirit theme with the ‘power neutrals' that have made his collection so important to Miles Talbott and our customers," said George Jordan, president of Miles Talbott.
"We are very excited about Joe's use of grays this season," Jordan said. "Joe was one of the first designers to successfully use gray in upholstery several years ago and has expanded this offering. We also anticipate a positive response to Joe's 'mist' colorations with a new soft green for coastal and lifestyle customers. And, to top it off, Joe has incorporated Denim into the collection along with a recycled story."
The new Brentwood Group, named for the celebrity enclave of Los Angeles, features Ruggiero's soft mist colors in a monotone palette. The Sax Mist pattern in this group is a tiny herringbone that gives the appearance of a solid and offers a luxurious hand.
Building on Ruggiero's continued innovations with striped patterns is Caravan Mist, which is a simple three-stripe look that adds diversity to the Brentwood Group. Look for Caravan in a variety of colorways throughout the new offerings.
Sutton Place, which was inspired by this area of Manhattan on the East River, features the pattern Venice Dove, which is a window pane design that incorporates a tie-dyed effect. As a complementing pattern, Embargo Dove offers a scrolling effect inspired by grillwork. The use of neutral colors assures that this offering will be at home in virtually any setting.
One of the best kept secrets of Michigan's north shore is Harbor Springs, which helped to inspire a group of the same name. The Sax herringbone pattern reappears in this group in the color Denim, featuring accents of orange and yellow stitching for a jeans-like aesthetic.
Pacific Heights, revered for beautiful homes overlooking San Francisco Bay, is the name of the fourth group of Ruggiero's new fabric offerings. Patterns in this group include Sax Charcoal and Caravan Fossil. Look for Ruggiero to pair Caravan Fossil with his popular Trax Vellum for a stunning light and dark effect within the Miles Talbott showroom.
"For this market we are featuring recycled fiber content in two of our new patterns - Sax and Caravan," Ruggiero said. "We are also excited to once again incorporate Textillery throws into the showroom, but this time in new colors that will make these comfortable accessories even more inspiring."
Textillery throws will be featured in a gray colorway and more luxurious than ever with a tighter weave that conveys the feel of cashmere. Woven from Sunbrella yarns, Textillery throws offer fade resistance and easy care features of Sunbrella fabrics.
"We feel there is a groundswell for the American-inspired home decor featured in our new collection," Ruggiero said. "All of our partners are ingrained in their local communities which is reflected in the quality and the aesthetic of our home décor lines."
