Surya to host High Point Market party

New showroom offers training plus food and cocktails daily

Casual Living Staff -- Casual Living, 4/11/2012 10:08:56 AM

Surya will host a party during the High Point Market to kick off its new brand showroom, Showplace 4100.

The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. on April 22 in the 26,000-sq.-ft. showroom and will feature a live DJ, dancing, an open bar and a catered dinner. Surya thrives on the motto "work hard, play hard" and hopes this party will set the tone for a very productive but fun market.

In addition to having a great time, Surya is also excited to show off its new collections - including more than 500 rugs, pillow, poufs and wall art designs.

"We want to give everyone a break from their hectic appointment schedules and have a chance to just kick back and enjoy themselves, and if they get the opportunity to view our new collections and bestsellers that's icing on the cake," said Surya President Satya Tiwari.

Surya also will offer inspirational merchandising tips, training classes and social media presentations. Surya emphasizes its expert understanding of the latest interior design and fashion trends, translating them into each of its product lines, blending the perfect combination of color, pattern and texture.

If you are unable to attend, Surya invites market attendees to stop by the showroom anytime to enjoy a little R&R, grab a bite to eat and peruse its newest additions. Surya offers a hot, catered breakfast and lunch in its showroom each day, as well as hors d'oeuvres and cocktails each evening.

Surya is a vertically integrated manufacturer of area rugs and home accessories. It is known for its innovative rug designs and strong approach to thorough business practices. Currently, Surya exhibits in Atlanta, High Point, Las Vegas, New York and New Delhi.

Giving Back

In another effort, Surya has helped to expand the East Meets West Foundation's Scholarship Program to Enhance Literacy and Learning (SPELL) in India.

To show appreciation to their customers and representatives, Surya gave a meaningful holiday gift. Instead of sending the usual Christmas gift basket, Surya gave an education to underprivileged children under the names of their top 750 customers and all 50 of their representatives.

"We want to continue to support, and give back to the communities who are creating our area rugs, in the name of our customers." Tiwari said. "We want to reduce the levels of school dropout rates by providing full funding for students who otherwise cannot afford school."

Nearly 80% of the school-aged children from poor families in India drop out of school before graduation. Families are often unable to afford the school fees, books, uniforms and other expenses. SPELL fully covers the cost of all school expenses for students from these impoverished families and mandates and pays for afterschool tutoring.

In partnership with the East Meets West Foundation, Surya will help build up an educated society in the poor, rural areas of India.
