GLEN RAVEN, N.C. - Glen Raven Custom Fabrics has named Alexis Maklakoff as business manager for casual fabrics, responsible for merchandising, marketing and product support for the outdoor furniture market. Maklakoff reports to Suzie Roberts, vice president and business manager for decorative fabrics for Glen Raven.

"Alexis brings extensive retail experience to his new position, along with an international background that's invaluable today," said Roberts, who remains closely involved in casual fabrics marketing as well as residential interiors and contract. "The addition of Alexis to this position within our fabrics marketing team assures that we will continue to bring high levels of innovation and service to our casual market customers."

Maklakoff's career with Glen Raven has included 10 years of service in Hong Kong as international sales and marketing manager for the North Pacific Rim during which time he earned a master's of management degree with a focus on marketing. He moved to Glen Raven's U.S. corporate headquarters five years ago to serve as director of multi-national accounts, working with retail buyers and coordinating programs with furniture manufacturers. His career has also included positions with two French-based companies, Dickson and Somfy.

In his new position, Maklakoff will head a team that includes three regional sales managers for the casual market - Robert Hernandez, Chris Price and Rob Nelson. He also retains responsibilities for multi-national accounts.

"The growth potential for retailers who feature Sunbrella outdoor fabrics has never been stronger than it is today because of consumer demand for products that make outdoor living experiences even more stylish and enjoyable," Maklakoff said. "Our team will provide the programs and the marketing tools that our customers need to succeed into this dynamic marketplace."
