NEW YORK - The New York Times is taking a look at the steady growth of outdoor rooms and casual furnishings today.
Ray Allegrezza, editorial director of Casual Living and editor in chief of Furniture/Today, was among the experts who shared their perspectives on why outdoor furnishings are gaining attention among both consumers and traditional indoor furniture retailers. Although the outdoor segment accounts for approximately $3.8 billion of the $80 billion home furnishings pie, retailers and manufacturers want to share a piece of that pie in a challenged economy. "People are actively going after it," Allegrezza said.
