Update: Power back on at Wearbest, Bella-Dura after Hurricane Sandy

Alexa Boschini -- Casual Living, 11/1/2012 1:21:00 PM

NEW YORK -- Power has been restored at the Wearbest Sil-Tex Mills plant in Garfield, N.J., and production is back on schedule, the company announced.

The textiles manufacturer, which produces the Bella-Dura casual fabrics line, had lost power following Hurricane Sandy.

Wearbest's design studio is located on West 36th Street in New York, and its mill is located in New Jersey. Both states felt the brunt of Sandy's force. The powerful "superstorm" wreaked havoc on the Northeast United States, damaging structures, leaving millions without power and killing at least 56 people.

Wearbest President Irwin Gasner sent an email Wednesday alerting people that the storm did not damage the Wearbest mill, but power outages impacted the company's communications, data network and production. Gasner sent a follow-up email Thursday afternoon reporting that power has been restored at the plant, though the company is still experiencing some issues with phone and email service:

November 01, 2012

To All Wearbest/Bella-Dura® Friends,

Thanks to everyone for the heartfelt wishes and communications.

We are pleased to announce that the Garfield, NJ mill has had the power restored and operations are back on schedule!

Our looms are running and our servers and network are up as well. Archived emails sent over the last several days are coming in slowly, so please be patient.

Production has resumed and we are slowly receiving emails that were sent over the last few days... At the present time we can receive phone calls but can not initiate.

Apologies in advance if we are slow to respond.

Thank you,

Irwin Gasner
President
