Wetter weather will bring snow for some while others stay dry

Last November, temperatures In the eastern 2/3rds of the nation trended warmer than normal and the year prior, however, the West Coast trended cooler than the year prior. Milder trends spread across much of the country during the final week of November 2011, including the Thanksgiving and Black Friday holidays, when temperatures trended the warmest in 12 years. Snowfall was mainly confined to the mountains of the West, northern New England, and the northern Great Lakes.
This month will start off relatively mild, but temperatures will turn cooler in the East during the second half of the month. Drier weather in the Southwest and across much of the Mississippi and Ohio Valleys will be favorable for outdoor holiday décor. At the same time, wetter trends will extend across Texas, the northern Plains and northern New England. A cooler and wetter pattern across parts of the North Central states and eastern Great Lakes will be conducive for an increase in snowfall, especially around Veteran's Day and during the week of Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, milder weather in the West will help to keep snow levels at higher elevations.
