Chair King expanding with new Houston store

Casual Living Staff -- Casual Living, 11/28/2012 4:52:09 PM

HOUSTON -- David Barish, president of Chair King Backyard Store, announced today that the family's Barish/S.W. Freeway LLC has purchased a 20,115-sq.-ft. building located on the Southwest Freeway in Houston.

Chair King will begin a remodel and update of the property in order to open a new store in March 2013. Chair King Southwest Freeway will carry the well-known brands and merchandise found in all of the company's stores, and will also feature new, higher-end lines that cater to this trade area.

This new store will be the 18th Chair King Backyard Store in Texas, including two in San Antonio, three in Austin, five in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and seven in Houston. Chair King also operates Leisure Collections, a design/contract showroom in Houston, and is the majority owner of Fortunoff Backyard Store, a 13-store chain located in New York and New Jersey.

Chair King will also remodel several of its Texas locations in time for the spring selling surge. Chair King Humble and Grapevine both will receive new storefronts, including glass windows and fabric awnings along with energy saving new lighting and HVAC. One of Chair King's Austin locations will be moved next door into a completely rebuilt store within a remodeled shopping center.

Chair King has been in business for more than 62 years, selling a full range of outdoor pool and patio furniture, Weber grills, outdoor accessories and indoor dinettes and barstools.
