Jacques Giard acquires Rene Corriveau & Fils Inc.

Casual Living Staff -- Casual Living, 12/4/2012 9:30:23 AM

MONTMAGNY, Quebec -- Jacques Giard, general director of Canadian outdoor furniture manufacturer Rene Corriveau & Fils Inc., announced he has completed the acquisition of the company that he has managed for the past four years.

Giard had taken a minority participation in December 2008 where he had invested in partnership with Marc Laliberte for the buy-out of the family-owned company, held until then by Rene Corriveau. Laliberte was the majority shareholder and acted as external administrator, while Giard acted as general director within the company. François Corriveau, son of Rene Corriveau, remained with the company and completed the direction team as minority shareholder and director of sales.

The acquisition establishes Giard as the sole owner of the company, according to a release.

"I know the company very well and I have new ideas and a passion to bring the company to the next level," Giard said. "Also, I would like to thank Marc, a long-time friend and mentor in the business field and also François, who taught me the outdoor furniture market."

The company has 42 employees, and its primary customer base is specialty retailers as well as hardware and large surface stores.

"As a manufacturer and importer of outdoor furniture, Corriveau possesses a history, a renowned status in its field," Giard said.

In the course of the next year, Giard and his team anticipate introducing several new products and remaining a resource for durable, ecological products of superior quality, the release states.
