PARIS - The international interior design community turned out in force for the January 2013 edition of Maison & Objet despite a heavy snowfall, the Paris trade show announced.

According to a press release, "With half of the visitors coming from abroad, Maison & Objet has firmly established itself as a vital hub for the international interior design and design market."

The number of international visitors remained stable despite the weather conditions, with 42% of visitors coming from export sectors worldwide, including the Middle East (United Arab Emirates +19%, Kuwait +38%), Asia (+13%), Eastern Europe (+6%) and North America.

The January show drew 76,149 visitors, plus an additional 2,936 journalists. Of the 38,560 French visitors, 69% were buyers and 31% were specifiers. Of the 37,589 international visitors, 68% were buyers and 32% were specifiers.

"These visitors welcome the originality of the Maison & Objet concept, which has established itself in the international interior design scene as a vital business hub and international showcase for the latest trends and innovations in public and private refurbishment," the press release states.

The theme for the winter Maison & Objet was "Vivant," capturing the vitality of spring. The show took place Jan. 18-22 at the Paris Norde Villepinte exhibition center and featured an array of categories including furniture, home accessories, textiles, gifts, fragrances and fashion accessories.

According to the release, Maison & Objet will continue to expand with an increased social media presence and the first Maison & Objet Asia, to be held March 10-13, 2014 at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Convention Centre in Singapore.

The fall Maison & Objet will take place Sept. 6-10, 2013 at the Paris Norde Villepinte.
