Tranquil territory

By Staff -- Casual Living, 8/1/2004

From a slight trickle to cascading flows, fountains and water gardens do more than provide eye appeal. The soothing sound of water is nature's calming aesthetic, reminding us to slow down, relax, take time to appreciate nature and our surroundings. For consumers, fountains certainly provide a final touch when designing the perfect outdoor living area.

CBK brings back the Renaissance with its 3-Tier Design Classic Fountain with a light brown teastain glazed ceramic finish to bring forth large-scale antique garden style.

A rustic verdigris finish completes the unique Bamboo Tube Fountain from Ozark Copperworks, sure to provide a mini-symphony as water trickles through the tubes.

The Pagoda Fountain from Ladybug hints at an Asian influence with a carefully designed octagonal shape in molded resin.

A perfect addition to any pond, the Water Queen Fountain by Designs in Copper is a work of form and function — water flows over solid copper lotus petals that enfold a handblown glass globe.

Dark granite layered in brick form shapes the Etruscan Urn Fountain from Stone Forest.

Made entirely from copper and ocean-tumbled rocks, the Waikiki Beach fountain from Water Wonders features a water cascade from the copper hood down to the stones, which shimmer as the lighted hood illuminates the surface.

A symbol of the sun, creation and rebirth, the lotus flower is the centerpiece of the Arcadian Lotus Flower Pebble Bowl from Haddonstone, constructed of cast limestone in three colors.
