NAMCO merges with Branch Brook Co.

Staff -- Casual Living, 2/1/2005

NAMCO, a Connecticut-based retailer of above-ground swimming pools and accessories, patio furniture, game room products and holiday trim, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of New Jersey-based retailer Branch Brook Co. The agreement was completed in mid-January.

NAMCO, which currently operates 35 retail locations in the Northeast, will gain a major presence in New Jersey with the addition of Branch Brook's six retail locations, bringing the company's store total to 41.

"This merger fills in a gap in our territory, which now spans from Maine to Maryland, and is an integral part of our growth and expansion strategy," said Stephen Radocchia, CEO of NAMCO. "We have known and worked with the folks at Branch Brook for more than 20 years and we are excited about teaming up with them to continue our mission of building a world class organization and industry leader."

Kevin Ventrice, president of Branch Brook Co., will join NAMCO as executive vice president and will be a driving force in the continued success of the combined entity. "Leveraging the synergies of both NAMCO and Branch Brook Co. will be a tremendous winning combination for our valued staff and will allow us to enhance product offerings and provide superior customer service throughout the entire chain," Ventrice said. "I look forward to working with everyone at NAMCO to continue the growth each company has enjoyed over the last few years."

Through a separate agreement NAMCO will continue to sell above-ground pools manufactured by Swim 'n' Play in the New Jersey stores only, allowing for the continuation of a 27-year tradition that has contributed to Branch Brook's past success.
