UpCountry Home and Garden gets dressed up for outdoors

Laurie Bell accessories add panache to collection

Staff -- Casual Living, 2/1/2005

UpCountry, now collaborating with outdoor soft goods leader Laurie Bell, made its debut as a fist-time exhibitor at last month's California Gift Show, introducing the 1930s Club Collection, a cool, sophisticated line of natural wicker, enhanced by UpCountry's new cushion program.

Consisting of three styles of chairs and ottomans, this is seating to beat the elements when painted with industrial enamel in six snappy and livable shades.

The new soft goods program, designed by Laurie Bell and featured exclusively under the UpCountry label, consists of 19 handpicked fabrics in retro tropical and European-styled prints and solids, also weatherproof and suitable for outdoor living.

"Fashionable fabrics represent the latest trend for outdoor lines," said UpCountry's Maggie Walker. "But it also creates flexibility for the consumer. They can change their cushions every season to keep it fun and fresh."

Upholstered seats, ottoman cushions and pillows in the new line boast hues like Aruba, Coral and Macaw from Sunbrella fabrics. Muted pink and cocoa brown are shown, elegantly paired in a pattern called Camilla, from Altizer. Bright aqua jacquards, also from Altizer, create dramatic accents for porches and patios.

As the U.S. distributor for Fermob, UpCountry also features its powdercoated steel French bistro tables and chairs in six new frame colors, including three on-trend shades of pink: Garnet, Fuchsia, and Rosebud.
