Patio Culture in Atlanta

Courtney Mueller -- Casual Living, 2/1/2005

Any doubt the Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Expo is all about the hearth category will wane after this month's show in Atlanta. Fireplaces and andirons aside, there will be plenty to see in the patio category — from hammocks and umbrellas to outdoor lighting and casual furniture collections. Take notice of pieces that add extra comfort to the outdoors. After all, isn't that what selling the leisure lifestyle is about?

A delightful accent for the outdoors, The Companion Group offers Adirondack chairs that serve as candleholders for citronella-filled votives.

Dramatic new indoor/outdoor tabletop sculptures from Artisan House include Romantic, a beautiful hand-finished copper shape that sits atop an acrylic base.

Consumers can create a full-scale living room outdoors with grills islands and outdoor kitchens from All About Grills.

Dark travertine tiles are used to create square and rectangular Piazza tabletops from O.W. Lee, highlighted by the addition of customized inlaid accent tiles to complement any finish or seating collection.

Weatherproof wicker lamps, topped with Sunbrella shades, feature a choice of five Lloyd/Flanders woven finishes in Olympia Lighting's Casablanca Collection of outdoor lighting.

Based on a classic deck chair design, the Lounger from Outback Chair Company is constructed from UV-resistant, waterproof polyfabric over a closed-cell foam cushion and features a sculpted wood frame, padded cushion and footrest.

Warm Welcomes from Open Air Designs allow consumers to transfer the beauty of fine art right to their front doors with a variety of seasonal prints selected from gallery collections.

For a more modern shade, consumers can make use of the P-17 Cantilevered Patio Umbrella from FIM Manufacturing, featuring a teak frame with silver aluminum accents, a 13-ft. canopy, 360-degree swivel and choice of fabric colors and bases.

To establish a contemporary outdoor fireplace and grilling center, consumers need not hire a mason. Zefirro's Emilia Outdoor Cooking and Entertaining Barbecue by Inforesight Consumer Products features a stone wall design with refractory hearth and a standard grill.

Mimicking the look and feel of a beach blanket, the Hatteras Hammocks Novelty Quilted Hammock from The HammockSource has four wide 13-inch stripes of bold colors in Sunbrella fabric for all-around comfort.

Cal Spas' Cal Flame Outdoor Fireplace lends a Roman feel, with bench seating, a stucco/tile façade and waterfall that flows in front of the fire.

The Trinidad Outdoor Wicker Collection from Summer Classics features UV-resistant vinyl woven on an aluminum bamboo frame for a classically updated look.

Constructed of yellow balau wood, the Diana 2-Seater Bench from Tensen Trading offers an elegant addition to any garden.

Made of tubular steel, the Gym Dandy Lounge Recliner Swing by Health in Motion is complemented by a canopy and cushions from solution-dyed acrylic fabric, as well as a hardwood table.
