Creative Ways to Bring Outdoor Accessories In
September 19, 2008

It was just about a month ago when I said “hey, retailers… get ready for fall”! If it was hard to embrace leaves and pinecones when it was 95 degrees out, guess what? October is right around the corner!! So, if you haven’t shifted all the way into the next season, time to get moving.

Indoor and outdoor spaces are increasingly melding together as space becomes more of a commodity. This is good news for retailers of outdoor furniture and accessories. Fall is a great time to introduce to your customers the myriad of ways that outdoor accessories can transition easily indoors for a creative look.

Large urns planted with an assortment of grasses or flowers make a wonderful statement in a foyer or entrance way. Or, if space allows in the kitchen, planting a birdbath full of your favorite herbs is practical, functional and beautiful.

For the more eclectic customer, suggest that smaller urns can be filled with a vibrant grouping of gourds and used next to a fireplace or bookshelf. Tabletop birdbaths look great filled with different height pillar candles or one big candle and some greenery.  Large urns can also be used for umbrellas next to a front or back door.

Peter Cilio of Campania International Inc. sums it up perfectly when he says “With a little creativity your planters and garden accent pieces can be versatile and elegant enough to bring indoors for four seasons of enjoyment”.
