Colors of the 2010 Winter Olympics

February 22, 2010

Everyone can acknowledge that the first image of the Olympic Games that comes to mind is made up of five united rings, colored blue, yellow, black, green, and red on a white field.

These five rings symbolize the five (populated) continents of the world: Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania (including Australia).

This year the 2010 Winter Olympics features a unique design of an inukshuk, a traditional stone sculpture used by Canada’s Inuit people, as its official logo.

The logo possesses five stone-like formations in green, two in blue, and one in red and yellow. Two pillars serve as the legs in support of the body, a horizontal shape acts as the arm and an eagle is where the head would normally be.

The different colors represent different regions of the country: the green and blues symbolize coastal forests, mountain ranges and islands. The red represents Canada’s Maple Leaf and the yellow depicts the brilliant sunrises.

Additional and very prominant colors of the Olympics are the medal colors: Gold, Silver & Bronze.

No matter which symbol you think of that represents the Olympics for you, you must admit color is infused into all areas of this global event.

So what can we take away from this example? Perhaps pride and delight in all of the colors of the Olympics.

I know it makes me feel good to see the use of color, think about how good you will feel if you infuse some color into your life, Inside & Out.

Add a drop of color to your outdoor living space and feel the joy and wonder that it brings your way!!

Write and let me know how color makes you feel?
