Cool Down with Cool Fabric Colors

July 31, 2009

It is a very well known fact that colors can make you feel warm or cool. Blue, green, and violet are considered cool colors. When you think of a cool lake or ice covered pond, you see cool colors, according to About.com.

The colors of red, orange, and yellow are considered warm colors because they are the colors of fire.

So I am baffled that so many people in hot dessert climates decorate with warm oranges, red and yellow rather than the cool colors of a lake, pool or ocean. An outdoor living space surrounded by beige sand and gray rocks, neutral painted homes and desert landscape would cool down with the addition of Sunbrella cool colored fabric such as Canvas Pacific Blue, Canvas True Blue, or Bravada Limelite. Even the names of the fabric make me think of a sparkling cool clear blue and refreshing swimming pool.

So consider your climate before choosing the color for your outdoor living space.

These are my outside views… Marcia Blake
