Seeing RED!!

February 13, 2009

When you see the color red, Webster’s dictionary tells us that you are in a state of irritation or annoyance. Not so in the month of February. This month the color red makes us think of cupid, love, sweets and flowers. A study by the University of Rochester psychologists concluded that the color red attracts men to women. So when you see the  red box of candy, or the red roses tomorrow you will not get a physical reaction of anger, you will instead have a loving response filled with happiness and warmth. In another study by the University of British Columbia researchers they found the color red enhances detail-oriented skills.

Once again this clearly states the impact that color has on one’s emotions. It can be a very specific response or be like a pendulum swinging back and forth. RED is certainly a color that will capture attention, so painting a wall red or adding red colored accent pieces such as throw pillows or a throw blanket to a furniture setting will promote emotions and actions that will energize those who see them.

Hoping that you see a lot of red tomorrow. Happy Valentine’s Day!
