June 4, 2008

Home Textiles Today reported that "Soft accessories a ray of hope at Williams-Sonoma"
specifically they said that Pottery Barn is finding that their sales in categories such as soft and decorative accessories are strong because their customer is busy updating their home.

In a related story Restoration Hardware reported a loss in their first quarter, with direct to consumer revenue up 47% from last years volume.

Both of these powerhouse companies are flooding the market with lots of outdoor accessories, giving their customers the tools to update their homes inside and out. It is very important that the specialty store makes certain that you are offering these same type of soft goods to your customers, so that you can increase sales while providing the customer with exactly what they are looking for.

Accessories and soft goods are feel good purchases,  so help them add a bit of color, style and pizzaz to spruce up their outdoor rooms.

These are my outside views… what are you selling in the way of soft goods? Marcia
