A New Design Trend for 2009!
We all know that fashion leads the way in design trends and this year is no exception. A new word for some is IKAT
(pronounced ee-cat) a design trend that symbolizes prosperity. “Ikat, is a style of weaving that uses a resist dyeing process similar to tie-dye on either the warp or weft before the threads are woven to create a pattern or design.” as stated in wikipedia. “Ikats vary widely from country to country and region to region. Designs may have symbolic or ritual meaning…and are often symbols of status, wealth, power and prestige.”
These popular fabrics will be best used for accent pillows and accent chairs. Intermingling these designs with traditional and modern, as well as, conservative and eclectic furniture are sure to be one of the new design trends in the casual furniture market for 2009 and 2010.
Look for these Ikat designs to come in all colors and various patterns. I strongly recommend that you consider using these wonderful styles as you accent the outdoor living space.

I'm having the same worry, but made worse by seenig all this brown and beige around that I was forced to live with in the late 70s/80s way after it had gone out of fashion. I didn't have the money to replace everything so chintz simply passed me by. Finally we got rid of it and NOW it's back in fashion. Nice while in fashion, but really difficult to live with when it isn't. I suggest creams and neutrals for your expensive bits, i.e. sofas and accerorize with really trendy cushions and stuff which can be replaced relatively cheaply. I wish you and me both some luck with that!
