Autumn Aromas & Accents Can Dazzle Your Tabletop

September 29, 2008

In America, chestnuts instantly summon up images of them “being roasted on an open-fire”.  Since fall is the best season for chestnuts, it’s the perfect inspiration for a table setting or mood enhancer in front of a fire.

For this warm, comfortable setting, let rich hues of burnt orange, deep cherry wine and accents in burnt mustard/amber inspire your table.  Begin by decorating the table with a table runner in deep cherry wine complemented with burnt orange napkins. Use opulent red ceramic dishware. For an inspirational expression, add a single chestnut on each place setting on top of a simple, stylish napkin.

Since our motivation for this setting is chestnuts, why not highlight them significantly on your table!  To do this simply fill two or three current, graceful hurricanes with chestnuts and amber or orange colored pillar candles for an austere centerpiece. Consider utilizing twigs from a bright orange persimmon branch, which is in season during the fall to add interest and texture to enhance the hurricanes.

To bring extra color and mood to the table, include colored glassware in amber or pumpkin hues. Add warm candlelight to complement the hurricanes with small votives in maize or orange colored glass.

Building a display representative of autumn helps to trigger fond memories of carving pumpkins, a walk in the woods to see the changing colorful season, a trip to an apple orchard or raking leaves.
Use your imagination to create a tablescape that will pay tribute to the season as it encourages a positive mood and stimulates sales.
