Pottery Barn & Williams-Sonoma are Doing it! Why can't you?

March 25, 2009

Pottery Barn, William Sonoma, Grandin Road, Ballard Design, Madeline Weinrib, Oscar Delarenta, & DKNY are doing it and so can you! The latest fashion statement is being achieved with bold colorful prints called, IKAT, A cloth whose pattern is produced by dyeing the warp and/or the weft threads before they are woven. This fabric design originated in India and traveled to Persia and Central Asia(reference:askasia.org)

From the runway to the outdoor room, Ikat designs are gaining popularity. You can see these fabrics made into skirts, shoes and dresses, adorning traditional chairs, like the ones in the photo by Madeline Weinrib, inside a living room, as bedding inside or on an outdoor bed and most easily tossed onto a sofa, love seat or lounge chair.

Transform an ordinary and plain piece of furniture with these new fabrics for the latest style. As the March moves into April and then May you will see more and more advertisements from dress designers & stores and consumers will be paying attention. Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma may not be the store of choice for outdoor furniture, but they will and they do make an impact on decisions made by consumers.

Show the customers that you are also in step with the latest fashion trends by tossing some IKAT throw pillows on some very plain traditional fabrics to make a strong decor statement. This fabric choice is selected by interior designers as well as fabric designers to create unique decorative products.

This may be one of the simplest ways to make your showroom pop and allow your creative juices and imagination to flow. These fabrics are being produced by Sunbrella, Outdura, Bella Dura, Sunbury, Victor Textiles and more so don’t be left behind, invest in this fashion trend for 2009.
